Compare bulk and regular Kagesan sand sheets for bird cages. Learn which pack size suits your cleaning routine and bird type, with practical trade-offs.
Quick Answer
For most bird owners, the bulk 200-sheet Kagesan pack offers the best value and convenience, but the regular 15-sheet pack is a smart choice if you're trying a new size or only have one small cage.
Why pack size matters for cage maintenance
Changing cage liner is the core of bird cage cleaning. The right pack size affects how often you reorder and how much you spend per change. Bulk packs reduce per-sheet cost and trips to the store, but they require storage space and a longer commitment to one product. Regular packs are easier to test and store, but you'll pay more per sheet over time.
Both Kagesan sand sheets are designed to be easy to replace and help naturally wear down beaks and unkempt claws. That means the choice isn't about quality—it's about your cleaning frequency, cage size, and storage.
Size and fit considerations
The bulk sheets measure 40 x 25 cm (about 16 x 10 inches), while the regular sheets are slightly larger at 43 x 28 cm (about 17 x 11 inches). If your cage tray is larger than either size, you may need to overlap or trim sheets, which can affect coverage. Always measure your cage tray before choosing a pack size.
The bulk pack's smaller size may be fine for budgies and other small birds, but for larger parrots, the regular sheets' extra surface area could reduce the number of sheets needed per change.
Bulk vs Regular: Trade-offs to consider
- Cost per sheet: The bulk pack (200 sheets) costs $20.99, which is about $0.10 per sheet. The regular pack (15 sheets) costs $5.19, about $0.35 per sheet. If you change liner weekly, the bulk pack saves you money over a year. Calculate your weekly sheet usage to see annual savings.
- Storage and commitment: The bulk pack takes up more shelf space and commits you to 200 sheets of the same size and color. The regular pack is easier to store and lets you try a different size or color next time. If you have limited storage, start with a regular pack to confirm fit and preference.
- Sheet size and cage fit: The regular sheets are larger (43 x 28 cm) than the bulk sheets (40 x 25 cm). For larger cages, the regular sheets may cover more area without overlap, potentially using fewer sheets per change. Measure your cage tray and compare with sheet dimensions before buying in bulk.

Which pack should you choose?
Best for
- Bird owners with multiple cages or high cleaning frequency who want the lowest per-sheet cost and don't mind storing a large pack.
- Budgie or small bird owners whose cage tray fits the 40 x 25 cm sheets and who want to stock up for months.
Not for
- First-time buyers who are unsure about sheet size or want to test a new product before committing to a bulk purchase.
- Owners of larger parrots whose cage tray exceeds 43 x 28 cm, as neither sheet size may fit perfectly without trimming or overlap.
